Trust gives $245K to five community groups

The Quad Cities Cultural Trust will provide grant funds to five community organizations one year after partnering with the Adler Theatre to promote performing arts in the region.

The Adler Theater Fund will divvy up $245,000 between the Adler Theatre, Ballet Quad Cities, Breath of Encouragement, Davenport Central Vocal Boosters and Quad City Symphony Orchestra. The Quad Cities Cultural Trust declined to comment on how much each organization receives within the $245,000 fund.

All of the grants will go toward putting on programming at the Adler Theatre. The theater will use its funds to put on shows appealing to the African American, Latino and LGBTQ+ communities, according to the news release.

Ballet Quad Cities will use the grant for its performances of “The Nutcracker” and “Rite of Spring” coming in late 2022 and early 2023. Breath of Encouragement will put on “Gold, Frankinscense and Myrrh” on Dec.17. Davenport Central Vocal Boosters will bring 19 high schools together to compete in the Great River Show Choir Invitational in February 2023, and Quad City Symphony Orchestra will put its money to the QCSO at the Movies series.
