Much needed to be done for boosting women’s safety: Rajasthan minister Mamta Bhupesh | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The women and child development department on Thursday held a state-level workshop to mark International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women with minister Mamta Bhupesh launching films, posters as part of awareness drive on safety of women in the state.
While addressing the workshop, Bhupesh said, “There is still so much improvement needed toward safety of women in the society; we should be able to reach a stage where we do not have to tell our daughters to come back home when its evening. ”
The minister further said that violence against women will not be tolerated at any level and the aim is to empower the women of Rajasthan andbring awareness in society.
“Such awareness campaigns are not just for women, rather it is also necessary for men to learn about the issues. Our aim is holistic development with adequate opportunities for social and economic development. With these awareness campaign, we want to change the prevailing attitude in the society towards gender equality, violence against women or girls, child marriage and to develop positive thinking,” further added the minister.
At the workshop, a guide for safety audit prepared by directorate of women empowerment in collaboration with UNFPA was released along with three short films related to domestic violence, gender equality and child marriage were screened.
