Haryana: Gurnam Singh Charuni holds farmers’ rally, lays 9 demands before Prime Minister Narendra Modi | Gurgaon News

AMBALA: BKU (Charuni) held a farmers’ rally at the grain market of Ambala Cantonment’s Mohra village to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sir Chhotu Ram and a year of farmers’ victory in the Delhi agitation, besides laying nine demands before the PM.
Farmers from even the neighbouring districts joined this rally led by Gurnam Singh Charuni, who praised Haryana home minister Anil Vij for withdrawing the agitation period’s criminal cases registered against the farmers but blamed Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal for late acceptance of this demand. After the rally, he handed over a nine-point memorandum for the CM and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Ambala deputy commissioner Priyanka Soni in the presence of superintendent of police Jashandeep Singh Randhawa.
The nine demands raised in the memorandum include MSP for all crops to all the farmers, fixing of sugarcane’s price at Rs 450 a quintal in Haryana, 1.5% interest to the farmers in case of delayed cane payments, rights over ‘mushtarka’ land, letting farmers off the hook for Lakhimpur Kheri violence, time-bound crop insurance claim, disapproval of genetically modified mustard seed, higher compensation for land acquired for electricity pylons, more relief for straw management, and more straw-fired power plants.
