14 Get Life Term For Triple Murder | Lucknow News

LUCKNOW: A local court in Shravasti awarded life sentence to 14 people in a triple murder case of 1998. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 58,000 on each of the convicts.
Additional district and sessions judge, Ajay Singh, pronounced the judgement, while also ordering two years extra imprisonment if the fine is not paid by the convicts.
Additional director general of police, prosecution, Ashutosh Pandey, said that on January 9, 1998 the murder of three people had taken place over a frivolous issue related to goat belonging to one Jameel entering into field of Sattar under Sonva police station area of Shravasti district.
“It was a very brutal murder with throats of victims slit, and their eyes gouged out,” said Pandey.
“A fight had taken place between the two while supporters from both sides have clashed leading to the death of Jameel, Sattar and one Mujib on the spot . An FIR was registered and the chargesheet was filed against 16 people. While two of them died during trial, 14 have now been awarded a life term,” the ADG said.
ADG said that all the exhibits recovered from the crime scene were preserved and statements of as many as two dozen villagers were taken by the prosecution.
